Albuquerque Joinery is seeking skilled craftsmen / craftswomen to join our team.
We are a small design-build company specializing in new home construction using traditional adobe building techniques. We build one house at a time, and our small team of multidisciplinary craftsmen handle nearly every aspect of construction, from foundations and concrete work, to adobe, heavy timber framing, roof framing and conventional carpentry, earthen plaster, and fine finish details like cabinets and doors. Most of the work takes place at the construction site, and some at our 1,700 sq ft woodworking shop/studio. We care deeply about the quality and longevity of our buildings, respect for traditional craftsmanship, and preserving our adobe building heritage. The ideal person will:
💪 Be looking for a long-term commitment. Most of all, we want someone who will be part of our team for years to come.
🪚 Have some good woodworking chops. We would love to add someone with a strong woodworking background to our team. Prior experience in a cabinet or fabrication shop would be ideal for this role, but other experience could suffice. A mastery of woodworking machinery (table saw, jointer, planer, router, sliding table saw, hand tools, etc.) is ideal, as is the ability to work independently and efficiently, create shop drawings, and plan out fabrication. Familiarity with Sketchup software would be a plus.
🧱 Be skilled with (or at least eager to learn) masonry, adobe, plaster, and construction sitework generally. Our crew are all building generalists and multi-tradesmen, but we’re also just a small team– everyone pitches in for the menial tasks, too.
💡 Be a problem solver and big-picture thinker. Someone with a construction project management background, or a successful owner-builder would be a great addition to our team. Have you built a building, undertaken a large remodel, or organized and overseen a significant project yourself?
Starting pay at $20 to $30 per hour, depending on experience. Regular raises with gained experience are to be expected. Visit abqjoinery.com for more information
