Adobe French Doors

Older adobe house remodel featuring custom built French-inspired doors with multipoint locks and cremone bolt. The original door was just 6′ 4″, off-centered in a dark hallway, and when open partially blocked the doorway next to it. We enlarged the opening, adding a new lintel and relaying the exterior brick. We replaced the old door with 7′ tall narrow stile double doors fabricated in our shop out of African mahogany, with stave core construction for the stiles and true divided lites. Remodel also included rustic privacy shutters for an interior window opening, a faux interior beam, and adjusting the remaining doors throughout the rest of the house.

Latilla Fence & Gates

Shortly after finishing the Buchan Residence, we returned to the house to build a fence. We had the pipe rolled to create two radius corners, and used cedar for the latillas. The copper-capped gates were constructed with Ponderosa pine and Spanish cedar.

Exterior Door Pairs

Two pairs of exterior and screen doors we built for a small house in the South Valley undergoing renovations. The exterior doors are solid alder, with an Osmo finish and lots of glazing to bring more natural light into the house. For the screen doors, we went with a traditional New Mexican zig-zag pattern and cherry red stain. The screen doors operate with a hydraulic closer.

Study Remodel & Laundry Cabinets

Remodel of study and laundry room in an older adobe house. For the study we used wide plank pine flooring with steel cut restoration nails, and custom fabricated a Spanish cedar and square bar bookshelf. The laundry / pass-through room featured concealed appliances and dry pack countertops. A faux wall was constructed behind the cabinets to give the illusion of counter-depth units. Built in collaboration with Dave Fischer.
