We’re back working on the house after a couple weeks’ break. (By “break,” we mean taking two weeks off “work” to finish an addition on our workshop, install 3-phase power, and completely rethink and reorganize all the woodworking equipment). Kenny and the guys have been wrapping up details, like building the hearth for the fireplace, lathing our wooden bond beam in preparation for plaster, and getting ready to put in the exterior doors. We would have loved to have built the doors for this house, but time and money were constraints in this instance. The alder doors we got from Pat’s will be a bit more rustic than our style, but I think will serve the house well. We also just really like working with the folks at Pat’s Doors. They are one of the many small, New Mexican owned businesses who supply materials for our projects, including
New Mexico Earth Adobes
Wholesale Timber and Viga
New Mexico Plaster Supply
Pat’s Doors
All Star Foam
Construction Rental and Supply
Kinney Brick
Most of these are family owned businesses that have been around for decades. We’re always so grateful for their expertise, and appreciate being able to keep it local!
