Rustic privacy shutters. Like many flat-roofed adobe homes, this house began as a very modest building and was added on to over time. One of the funkier consequences of all those additions is this interior window between the kitchen and guest bedroom. These rustic shutters were built to match the patina of the existing lintel and window frame. We dug through our stash of aged wood to find these old scaffold boards and bond beam scraps from building our own house. We planed just enough off the faces to square and flatten them, but not so much that the natural checking and character of the wood was lost. The shutters run on a wood track attached to the top of the opening and are hinged at the corners with concealed steel pins. #adobehouse #interiorwindow #shutters #customwoodworking #rustic #recycledwood
